Biomarkers Identify Early Onset AD Before Symptoms Appear
(Source: UCLA) - The need to develop preventative strategies before Alzheimer's symptoms appear is critical. UCLA professor John Ringman and colleagues report that levels of certain proteins in the blood and spinal fluid begin to drop as the disease progresses, making them potentially useful to identify and track progression long before symptoms appear.


Families Must Reach Out for Help When Loved One Has Alzheimer's
(Source: Pressconnects.com) - In 2000 Elizabeth Cohen's father with Alzheimer's ventured out of his home to take a walk amidst the biting, icy wind of a monster snowstorm - without his coat. Fortunately, he returned a few hours later, knocking furiously on the laundry room window. But the family of Elizabeth Pellegrini, an 83-year-old woman, reportedly in the early stages of the disease, was not so lucky. She left her house on July 9 to go to a doctor's appointment and never came home. Five days later she was found, having died in a car accident.
